Le Labo Bergamote 22

Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and lotion. I did not see this one coming. I am a D.S. Durga loyalist and I say that without apology — but Le Labo Bergamote 22 walked in and made itself completely at home and I am genuinely not over it.

If you have read my D.S. Durga Bowmakers review you know where I stand. That one has my whole heart and I was not looking for competition. I was not in the market for a new obsession. I was perfectly content with my choices and I would like it noted that I was minding my own business when this happened.

And then Le Labo Bergamote 22 happened.

I want to be honest with you the way I always am on this blog: I did not expect to feel this way about a bath line. I am now a person who actively looks for reasons to shower twice in one day. I wash my hair and immediately think about washing it again. That is not normal behavior for me and I am choosing to blame this product entirely and without reservation.

The shampoo has a rich lather — the real kind, not the kind that disappears the second you work it in. It cleans thoroughly without that squeaky stripped feeling that tells you something harsh just happened to your hair. The conditioner actually works, which sounds like a low bar until you have used enough conditioners that do absolutely nothing and you start to genuinely wonder if conditioner is even real. This one is real. Hair is soft, manageable, and happy.

The shower gel lathers beautifully — thick, satisfying, not watery — and your skin comes out feeling clean without feeling like it has been dried out. And the lotion. The lotion is slightly thicker than you might expect from a luxury line but it absorbs completely, no residue, no greasy hands, just genuinely moisturized skin that holds the scent long after you have gotten dressed, made coffee, and washed your hands twice. The fact that the scent survives hand washing is impressive and a little unfair to everything else currently in my bathroom.

The scent is bergamot — citrusy, clean, warm without being heavy. The kind of scent that makes your bathroom smell like somewhere you would pay to stay. It layers beautifully across all four products so you are not fighting conflicting versions of the same fragrance. You just smell like you have your life together, consistently, from shower to bedtime. Even if twenty minutes later an 80-pound dog is monitoring leaves through your bedroom window. The scent holds. The chaos does not diminish it.

I also want to note — for the record and because it is completely true — that during the Air Mattress Rebellion of 2026, at approximately 2am on the kindergarten mat, Nugget put his full 80-pound head directly on my hair and held that position for an extended and committed period of time. This was the Le Labo hair. He chose it. I am not saying that is a formal endorsement. I am also not not saying that.

Worth every single dime. I say that as someone who is not easily impressed and who already had a loyalty elsewhere.
