The Name Is Exactly What You Think. And Also Not At All.

Sleep with Nikki started at 2am. Here's what that actually means.

This started at 2am.

Not metaphorically. Literally 2am, during one of those seasons where life had thoroughly reshuffled the deck and dark humor was the only thing keeping the lights on. My business partner and I were both awake — because neither of us has ever figured out a normal sleep schedule, which in retrospect makes us extremely qualified to run a sleep blog — and we were doing what people do at 2am when they're exhausted and wired and slightly unhinged: we were building something.

The name came fast. Sleep with Nikki.

We knew exactly what we were doing. The double meaning was the point. It's the kind of name that makes people do a double take, click the link, and then either laugh or feel mildly betrayed when they realize it's actually about pillows. Both reactions are correct. Both reactions are welcome.

The name stayed. I have zero regrets.

What This Actually Is

Sleep with Nikki is a sleep blog. A real one. Not the kind that exists to funnel you toward a mattress affiliate link and call it editorial content. The kind where I actually test things, actually form opinions, and actually tell you when something is bad — even when I got it for free, even when the brand is lovely, even when the PR email was very nice.

I write about pillows, bedding, sleep science, bath and body products, supplements, routines, and anything else that crosses my path and claims to make rest better. I write about hotel beds because I have strong opinions about hotel beds and I think that's a completely reasonable thing to have strong opinions about. I write about the hard seasons — the insomnia, the stress, the physical pain — because those are the seasons when sleep matters most and is hardest to find, and I've been through enough of them to have something useful to say.

I'm also associated with Hotel Home Pillows and Signature Supply Co, two businesses that live in the sleep and luxury hospitality space. That gives me access to hospitality-grade products and industry knowledge that most sleep bloggers don't have. When either brand comes up, I'll say so. You'll never have to wonder.

About the Name (The Full Version)

Here's the thing about naming something provocatively: you have to be willing to own it completely, or it owns you.

I'm willing to own it completely.

The name is a joke and it's not a joke. It's an invitation and a statement. It says: I'm not going to be boring about this. Sleep is something every single person does, something that affects every single part of life, and somehow most of the content about it manages to be aggressively dull. I didn't want to make more of that. I wanted to make something worth reading at 2am when you can't sleep and you're looking for something that feels like a real person wrote it.

So that's what this is.

✦ Nugget Says

He cannot type. But he is here, taking up approximately 80% of the bed, and he would like you to know that he approves of this project. He has reviewed several pillows personally. His standards are high. His opinions are non-negotiable.

Welcome to Sleep with Nikki. I'm glad you're here. Let's get you some better sleep.
